Michael B. Jordan
Michael Bakari Jordan won the 2026 Academy Award for Best Actor for his dual role in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, becoming the seventh Black performer in history to win an Oscar in the lead acting category.
Career
Born February 9, 1987 in Santa Ana, California, and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Jordan first drew notice playing Wallace in the debut season of HBO’s The Wire (2002). His breakout came a decade later in Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station (2013), portraying Oscar Grant to wide critical acclaim.
He went on to star as Adonis Creed in Creed (2015) opposite Sylvester Stallone, and as Erik Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther (2018), a performance widely praised as one of the MCU’s best villains. His Best Actor win came for Sinners (2025), a period horror film reuniting him with Coogler.
