Most cinemas compromise on the ratio. When a film is shot or mastered for IMAX’s expanded 1.43:1 frame — the tallest commercial format in the industry, used for sequences in titles from The Dark Knight through this year’s The Odyssey — almost nowhere actually shows you the whole picture. Multiplexes crop it down to fit a standard screen. The extra image, the part the filmmakers built the shot around, is simply gone.
We’re building a cinema that doesn’t crop it.
A private screening room built to true 1.43
Batmandir’s cinema, opening at our Boca Chavón property in Q4 2027, is being built to project the full IMAX 1.43:1 expanded ratio — the format as directors intended it, not a windowboxed approximation. It’s a single room, built for members and their guests, not a public multiplex.
This isn’t a side amenity. It’s the reason a number of our members joined in the first place.
Access
The screening room is available to Batmandir members starting at the S2 tier. Studio and corporate partners at the S4 tier can arrange private screenings and premieres.
